FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--
The Cove Marina Sailfish Tournament has done a wonderful job in previous years raising money for great causes & organizations. This year the Cove has elected to disperse the proceeds from its Sailfish Tournament to Michael Brewer, the 15-year-old boy who was burned severely when doused in alcohol and set on fire by his schoolmates. This story hits close to home for the Deerfield Beach restaurant & marina. Michael was from Deerfield and one of his family members is actually on staff at The Cove. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the tournament will go directly in support of Michael Brewer.
The tournament features a two-day, two-inlet format, with options of checking out of Boca or Hillsboro inlets. The tournament pays five places and the top team wins $10,000. The top amateur team will take home $2,500. There are several optional entry categories including an exclusive big boat division, a center console division and a fun fish division for the heaviest Kingfish, Dolphin or Wahoo in the tournament. Early entry into the tournament, valid thru January 4th, is $1,000.
The kickoff party will be held Wednesday, January 13th, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Cove Restaurant in Deerfield Beach. Weigh-ins are held at the Cove Restaurant & Marina Friday (Jan. 15th) and Saturday (Jan. 16th) at 4 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, with the awards ceremony to follow on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
To download the tournament brochure or to register for the tournament, please visit www.bluewatermovements.com. This is a wonderful opportunity for the South Florida fishing community to participate in a first class Sailfish tournament and a fundraiser for a young man who desperately needs our support. For sponsorship information or to donate an item for the tournament’s silent auction, please call Bluewater Movements at 954-725-4010.
