For those of you who haven't heard the great news, we wanted to let you know that the long awaited and anticipated highway between the capital city of San Jose and the Pacific beach town of Jaco is now complete!!
This project has been talked about for nearly 20 years, however, January 27th, 2010 was the day that President, Oscar Arias first drove on the completed passageway.
It is a toll highway that will cost you approximately $4 - one way. The first weekend the highway was open, it was reported that over 25,000 cars made the trip on the new asphalt.
For those of you traveling to the beach trips to the airport and San Jose will have a duration of only 60 minutes, versus the 2+ hours of the old windy highway.
